Laptops

Ten Dell laptop computers are available for student use within Marquand. Each computer has an external disk drive, a CD-ROM drive, and may be used with the ethernet connections at every carrel and table. Laptops must be returned to the front desk before 8:45 pm.

Ethernet cords and wireless cards are available for use within Marquand. Ask at the front desk, and be prepared to leave your student ID as security.

Want to print from your laptop to a Marquand Pharos station? You must be attached to the Princeton network for this to work (including wireless connections). Note: you only need to install the printer once; it will be listed as a printer on your laptop from that point on.

Directions for PCs

• Go to Start, Run. Type \\firedom, and click OK.
• You may be asked to enter your name and password. Be sure to put Princeton\username in, instead of just your username. Use the password you log into a Princeton PC with (e.g. your NT password).
• In the next window, double click "WalkinHP."
• Say yes when asked to install on your computer. Do not make it your default printer.
• Try to print something, selecting "WalkinHP" as your printer.
• Go to the computer cluster on A level, and login to the Pharos station. Your item should be in the queue.

Directions for Macs

• Open the Utilities folder.
• Open Printer Setup Utility.
• Select "Add" from the list of icons at the top of the screen.
• Select IP Printing.
• Under "Protocol" select LPD.
• Under "Address" enter firedom.
• Under "Queue" enter WalkinHP.
• If firedom does not automatically appear under "Name," then manually enter firedom. Your screen should match the picture below.

• Click the "Add" button at the bottom of the page.
• Try to print something, selecting "WalkinHP" as your printer.
• Go to the computer cluster on A level, and login to the Pharos station. Your item should be in the queue.
